“For more than two hours, no doctor to attend to us” – Nigerian woman narrates how her 2-month-old daughter d!ed in Kano hospital

A Nigerian mother, Abdulazeez Hope Maryam, has shared a heartbreaking story about how her two-month-old baby died in a hospital in Kano State. According to her, there were no doctors available to attend to her child in an emergency.

Maryam posted her experience on Facebook on Wednesday, May 14, 2025. She explained that she quickly took her baby to the emergency room at Nassarawa Hospital in Kano but was left waiting for over two hours without any medical help.

Sadly, before she could take her baby to a different hospital for help, the child passed away. The delay in getting medical attention cost her daughter’s life.

In her Facebook post, Maryam wrote that she now understands the painful phrase, “May Nigeria never happen to you.” She said she waited helplessly in the emergency section while no doctor came to help her child, and before she could leave, her baby was gone.

She also shared a touching tribute to her daughter, Hibatullah. She wrote that even though her daughter’s life was short, it left a deep mark on her. She remembered her baby’s sweet smiles and soft sounds, and said those memories will always be part of her. She ended by saying she loves her daughter more than words can express.
