The Nigerian Army, under Operation SAFE HAVEN, has successfully neutralized two suspected bandits and recovered a range of weapons and valuables during an operation in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area, Plateau State.
On Monday, the operation was carried out based on reliable intelligence, targeting a criminal hideout located near Teng Mountain/Forest. According to security sources, the troops clashed with the bandits in a fierce gunfight, using superior firepower to overpower them. The operation resulted in the death of two bandits.
During the raid, the soldiers recovered several items. Among the seized goods were an AK-47 rifle, a locally-made rifle capable of firing 7.62mm ammunition, one AK-47 magazine, and seven rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. Additionally, four mobile phones, two motorcycles, and N157,900 in cash were found. The cash is believed to be proceeds from criminal activities carried out by the bandits.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that the recovered weapons are now in their custody, and the mobile phones are being analyzed to help track down other gang members who managed to escape.
