Omoyele Sowore, who ran for president in 2023 under the African Action Congress (AAC), has spoken out against members of the Labour Party currently in the National Assembly.
He said many of them have now teamed up with the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in Nigeria.
According to a report from DAILY POST, several Labour Party members have left the party and joined either the APC or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Some of the lawmakers who have defected to the APC include Tochukwu Okere from Imo, Donatus Mathew from Kaduna, Bassey Akiba from Cross River, and Iyawe Esosa from Edo.
While speaking on Channels Television, Sowore said, “Look at all the Labour Party people in the National Assembly — they’re not returning to their original parties. They’re all moving to the APC. That shows they are not genuine. They weren’t real in 2023, and they won’t be real in 2027.”
Other politicians who have also left the Labour Party for the APC include Daulyop Fom Chollom from Plateau State, who represents the Barkin Ladi/Riyom Federal Constituency.
Odey Brian, who represents Yala 1 in the Cross River House of Assembly, has also dumped the Labour Party for the APC.
Ajang Iliya, who represents Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency in Plateau, has joined the APC as well.
Daniel Chollom, who also represents Barkin Ladi/Riyom in Plateau State, has made the same move.
Lastly, Senator Ezenwa Francis Onyewuchi, representing Imo East Senatorial District, has defected to the ruling APC too.
