Naira continues depreciation against dollar across official, black FX markets

The Naira’s struggle against the dollar continues, with its value dropping on Thursday in both the official and black market exchange rates.

According to the latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the official exchange rate saw the Naira fall further to N1609.64 per dollar, compared to N1,608.60 the day before. This means that within just one day, the Naira lost 1.04 Naira in value.

The Naira also faced a decline in the black market. On Thursday, it was traded at N1630 per dollar, down from N1625 the previous day. This represents a loss of 5 Naira within 24 hours.

The previous day, the Naira experienced its highest depreciation so far, falling from N1610 per dollar on Tuesday to N1625 per dollar on Wednesday. This marks a significant ongoing decline in the Naira’s value against the dollar in recent days.
