Chelsea have made it to the final of the Europa Conference League. They will play against Spanish club Real Betis later this month.
On Thursday night, Chelsea played the second leg of their semi-final against Swedish side Djugarden. They won the match 1-0 at Stamford Bridge, their home ground. Chelsea had already won the first leg 4-1, so they were in a strong position to go through.
Since the first leg gave them a big lead, Chelsea’s coach Enzo Maresca rested many of his regular players. He made 10 changes to the team to prepare for their important Premier League game against Newcastle United this weekend. That game could be key for Chelsea’s hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
The only goal of the game came in the 38th minute. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored after a clever play by Tyrique George.
In the other semi-final, Real Betis played against Fiorentina. The Spanish team had won 2-1 in the first leg in Spain. In the second leg in Italy, they scored first through Antony. But Fiorentina came back with two goals, making the score even on aggregate.
The game went into extra time. That’s when Abde Ezzalzouli scored the winning goal for Real Betis, sending them to the final.
Now, Chelsea and Real Betis will face each other in the Europa Conference League final. Both teams are hungry for a trophy, and fans can expect an exciting match.
