Body of missing man found floating in Osun River

The body of a man, who had been missing earlier in the week, was found floating in a river in Ibokun, located in the Obokun Local Government Area of Osun State. His body was discovered on Wednesday, just a day after he was reported missing.

The man, identified as Kehinde Ijebu, was a resident of Ibokun. According to local residents, he disappeared on Tuesday without a trace, leading family members and the community to begin searching for him.

When the body was found, family members and locals quickly confirmed that it was indeed Kehinde. His death is believed to be related to health struggles he had been facing recently, with many believing he may have entered the river voluntarily.

A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, shared that Kehinde had been showing signs of emotional distress in the days leading up to his disappearance. The neighbor explained that Kehinde went missing on Tuesday evening, and by Wednesday morning, people reported seeing a body drifting in the Oyile River.

Eyewitnesses who spotted the body floating on the river immediately informed others, and the police were alerted to the scene.

Following the discovery of Kehinde’s body, the family performed local burial customs. Around 11 AM on Wednesday, Kehinde was buried near the riverbank, after conducting traditional rites.

The Osun State Police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the incident, stating that there were no signs of violence or foul play on Kehinde’s body. The family initially wanted to bury him without an autopsy, and despite police suggestions, they chose to proceed with the burial. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
