In today’s digital world, being popular online seems more important than ever. Nollywood actor, IK Ogbonna, recently shared his thoughts on this growing trend — and he didn’t hold back.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, IK Ogbonna said that clout has become the new currency. In other words, many people treat fame and attention like money, and they’re willing to do almost anything to get it.
“In today’s world, clout is the new currency,” he wrote. “And a lot of people are desperate to spend.”
He explained that some people go as far as using real money to get attention. Others, he noted, will drag down people who are already famous just to shine a little themselves.
The actor warned that this kind of fame — the kind that’s forced or faked — might give someone quick hype, but it won’t last. The recognition may come fast, but it fades just as quickly.
Ogbonna’s message is a reminder that while chasing fame may seem like the easy path, real respect and success take time, effort, and authenticity.
