Police arrest 18-year-old wife in Kano for allegedly killing busband

In Kano State, police have arrested an 18-year-old woman named Saudat Jibril. She is suspected of killing her husband, 30-year-old Salisu Idris, during the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident happened in Farawa Quarters. Reports say that the young woman used a sharp knife, and the victim suffered a deep wound to his throat.

The police shared details about the case in a statement on Tuesday afternoon. They confirmed that Saudat is now in their custody and will be charged with causing death intentionally.

According to the police, the attack took place around 12:35 a.m. on May 6, 2025.

After the attack, Salisu Idris was taken to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, but doctors said he was already dead when he arrived.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, quickly sent detectives to the scene after receiving the report.

Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Kiyawa said the suspect is now being held by the Homicide Section of the Criminal Investigation Department.

He added that investigations are still ongoing, and the suspect will be taken to court after the inquiry is completed.

The Commissioner of Police strongly condemned the killing. He also said that the police would not tolerate any violent acts in Kano State.

He asked the public to remain calm and work with the police to help with the investigation.

People living in Farawa Quarters were shocked by what happened. Many said the incident was both sad and terrifying.
