Aircraft crashes into school building as India, Pakistan war rages

As tensions between India and Pakistan grow, an aircraft has crashed in the Indian-controlled region of Kashmir. The crash happened just hours after India launched missile strikes on Pakistan.

The aircraft, which has not been identified, came down on a school building near the main city in Kashmir.

Local police and people in the area said the plane crashed early Wednesday morning.

A resident named Mohammed Yousuf Dar shared his experience with Reuters. He said, “We saw a huge fireball in the sky, then we heard several loud explosions.” The crash happened in the Wuyan village in the Pampore area of southern Kashmir.

Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before they were able to put out the fire.

After the crash, police and army officials quickly arrived and blocked off the area to keep people safe and begin an investigation.

An Indian official told Reuters that a fighter jet crashed in the Indian part of Kashmir and the pilot was taken to the hospital. However, it’s still unclear if this is the same plane that crashed in Wuyan village.

Earlier, a Pakistani official told The Guardian that Pakistan’s military had shot down at least two Indian fighter jets.
