British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua is considering an investment in Watford FC, a football club in the EFL Championship, located in his hometown. Joshua, who still resides in the area, is interested in having a financial stake in the team.
Having earned around $110 million throughout his boxing career, Joshua is now focused on channeling his wealth into long-term business opportunities.
In an interview with Seconds Out, Joshua explained his interest in private equity and venture capital. He shared, “As you earn, you naturally want to save. Instead of spending recklessly, I’m looking to invest in different areas — and Watford FC presented an opportunity.”
Although nothing is confirmed yet, Joshua sees the investment as a serious and potentially profitable one. He mentioned, “If this deal happens, it could be very successful. If Watford returns to the Premier League, the amount of traffic coming through Watford would be huge.”
Though not a huge football fan, Joshua recalled the excitement of fans filling Market Street and heading to Vicarage Road for games. He said, “It was always a great sight. If the investment doesn’t happen, I wish them the best of luck as they’re a great team.”
