Davido, the famous Nigerian singer, recently spoke about the striking resemblance between his new son and Ifeanyi, his son who tragically passed away in 2022. According to Davido, the similarity is so strong that it can be described as “scary.”
Ifeanyi, Davido’s first son, died in a drowning accident at their home in Banana Island on November 1, 2022. After the heartbreaking incident, the singer revealed in an interview that he and Chioma, his partner, had secretly married. Nearly a year after Ifeanyi’s passing, in October 2023, the couple welcomed a set of twins, a boy and a girl. In June 2024, they held a grand wedding celebration.
In a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, Davido opened up about how the boy twin strongly resembles Ifeanyi, making him feel like his late son had “come back.”
Talking about the grief of losing Ifeanyi, Davido shared how it affected him deeply, saying, “That kind of loss just makes you want to step away and focus on family to get your mind right. Coming back from that pain and being blessed with twins—a boy and a girl—is a miracle. The boy looks just like Ifeanyi. It’s like he came back.”
Davido also mentioned how the pain of the loss transformed him and motivated him to support others going through tough times. He added that his marriage to Chioma and the success of his album “Timeless” in 2023 strengthened his faith, leading him to believe that “God is real.”
Reflecting on his journey in the music industry, Davido expressed how fulfilled he felt seeing his dreams come true, partly by watching other artists’ journeys on social media.
When asked about his collaboration with American singer Chris Brown, Davido shared that they had recorded around 20 songs together. On the possibility of releasing a joint album, Davido said, “We could release two albums right now. It’s definitely happening.” He expressed happiness for Chris as the singer celebrated his 20-year anniversary in music and confirmed plans to join him on the Breezy Bowl tour.
Davido also confirmed his involvement in the film industry. He mentioned that he is an executive producer for a movie and a series, collaborating with his director, Dammy Twitch. Additionally, he is working on his own documentary.
