Former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has urged President Bola Tinubu to address the actions of his family members.
Atiku claimed that Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, is resorting to unethical tactics to secure political loyalty for his father.
This reaction follows accusations by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) President, Atiku Isah, who alleged that Seyi Tinubu assaulted, kidnapped, and attempted to bribe him.
In a statement issued by Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media aide, the former Vice President described these allegations as deeply troubling and a violation of democratic and civil rights.
Atiku noted that such severe accusations against a member of the president’s family are both unsettling and dangerous.
The statement urged President Tinubu to ensure his son, Seyi, refrains from using intimidation, violence, and other unethical means to enforce political loyalty.
Atiku warned that incidents like these could escalate, causing further harm to Nigeria’s fragile security situation, especially if state institutions are influenced by individuals like Seyi.
He condemned attempts to pressure civil groups, including NANS, through threats, bribery, or force, stressing that such behavior undermines democracy.
The former Vice President called on Nigerians to speak out against these alleged abuses of power, reminding the Tinubu family that public office is a responsibility, not a personal asset.
Atiku also dismissed claims linking him to Atiku Isah, describing the allegations as false and politically driven.
