The Nigerian Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has shared big success in its fight against terrorism and oil theft. Between April 17 and 25, 2025, Nigerian troops killed over 100 terrorists, arrested 100 suspects, and rescued 21 people who were kidnapped.
Major General Markus Kangye, who speaks for the Defence, shared this news on Friday. He said military operations across different parts of the country brought good results.
In the North East, under Operation Hadin Kai, soldiers attacked terrorist hideouts, making many ISWAP and Boko Haram fighters surrender. Many were also killed.
In the North West, Operation Fagge Yamma troops fought insurgents in Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi, and Katsina States. They rescued kidnapped people and arrested several criminals.
In the North Central region, Operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke arrested more than 37 suspects in Plateau and Kaduna States, acting on useful tips.
In the South East, under Operation Udoka, soldiers raided terrorist hideouts in Imo, Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi States. They killed terrorists, arrested others, and found weapons and bombs. Four kidnapped people were also rescued during these raids.
In the South South, troops under Operation Delta Safe went after people stealing oil. They destroyed illegal refineries and seized oil and fuel worth over ₦94 million. Earlier in April, they also arrested 49 oil thieves and shut down 22 illegal oil sites.
The military said they will continue working to keep Nigeria safe from terrorists and oil thieves.
