The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has praised President Bola Tinubu for two major actions—appointing Mr. Tosin Ajayi as the new Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS) and creating the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development.
According to MACBAN, these steps show the President’s commitment to keeping his promises and improving the livestock sector in Nigeria. The group said that the new DSS leadership has handled security challenges in Plateau, Benue, and other states with professionalism.
MACBAN’s statement followed a recent comment by the Plateau State government, which also praised the DSS for helping to solve many security problems in the state.
In a press release signed by its national president, Baba Othman Ngelzarma, MACBAN said that other security agencies should learn from how the DSS is working to protect lives and property. The group highlighted how the DSS under Mr. Ajayi worked hard to prevent a serious crisis in Enugu State after nine Fulani youths were killed.
MACBAN also appreciated Mr. Ajayi for treating law-abiding Fulani herders fairly and not grouping them with criminals. They said every tribe has both good and bad people, and it’s important to recognize those who are peacefully earning a living.
The group revealed that due to ongoing insecurity, over 20% of their members—and around four million cattle—have left Nigeria. This has caused beef prices to rise, affecting many Nigerians who rely on it as an affordable meat option.
MACBAN promised to keep supporting the government and security agencies to bring back peace, help businesses, and improve farming activities.
