Nigerian pastor Emmanuel Iren recently made a controversial statement during one of his sermons. He said that, in his experience as a pastor, nine out of ten women who come to pastors with claims of being sexually assaulted are not telling the truth.

Pastor Iren shared a story to explain his point. He said a lady once came to him, saying that a man from his church had assaulted her. Pastor Iren said he was ready to make sure the man went to jail. But the story changed when the accused man showed WhatsApp chats between him and the lady. In those chats, she said she had a “nice time” with him. This made the pastor question her claims.

He explained that he has come across many similar cases, and most of them turned out to be false based on the evidence provided.
