Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has said he wants young midfielder James McAtee to stay at the club next season.
McAtee, who is 22 years old, has been linked with a possible move away from Man City this summer. However, Guardiola believes the midfielder is a valuable player who can play in different positions on the pitch.
Speaking before their Premier League match against Everton, Guardiola praised McAtee’s performance in training and his attitude. He also mentioned that McAtee scored in Man City’s recent 5-2 win over Crystal Palace.
“For his age, I’d like him to stay,” Guardiola said. “He’s a great guy, trained in our academy, and understands our playing style. He trains very well and can play in many roles.”
McAtee joined Manchester City’s academy in 2013 and has spent time on loan at Sheffield United in the past. Guardiola hopes he will continue his journey at the Etihad next season.
