Dr. Abubakar Chika Malami, the former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, has denied claims made by some associates of Senator Tanko Al-Makura that the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc has endorsed President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Malami’s media aide, Muhammed Bello Doka, stressed that only those loyal to the original CPC ideology have the authority to speak on the bloc’s current position.
Doka questioned the legitimacy of claims made by certain individuals like Senator Tanko Al-Makura, who, according to him, have recently distanced themselves from former President Muhammadu Buhari in an effort to stay politically relevant.
He emphasized that any statements made by these individuals should be seen as personal opinions, not the official stance of the CPC bloc.
Regarding rumors that Malami might defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Doka labeled such claims as “imaginary” and stated that Malami remains a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He clarified that Malami is still consulting with various political groups and has not made any final decisions about his future political moves.
Doka assured that Malami would make any major announcements at the appropriate time and confirmed that he continues to have the right to join any party or run for office in Kebbi State or at the national level.
