Europe has officially joined the peace talks between Ukraine and Russia, which are being led by former U.S. President Donald Trump’s team. The group known as the “E3” — made up of Britain, France, and Germany — is now involved in these important discussions.
Until now, Europe had been left out of the talks, which were mostly held in places like Saudi Arabia. But things have changed. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot shared that, for the first time, the United States, Ukraine, and European countries sat down at the same table.
This meeting happened in Paris, where top diplomats from the U.S., Britain, Germany, France, and Ukraine came together. Also present was Steve Witkoff, a close friend of Trump.
A senior adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron said that the talks were a big step forward. “The E3 are around the table and we’re doing it with a European ambition,” the adviser said.
Next week, the group plans to meet again in London to continue working on a possible ceasefire.
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio also spoke with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, showing that direct communication with Russia is ongoing.
This could be a turning point in the search for peace in Ukraine, with Europe now actively involved.
