A lawmaker in Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Daniel Asama, has said that security agencies know the people and places responsible for the recent deadly attacks in Plateau State. Over the past two weeks, more than 100 people have been killed in these attacks.
Asama, who represents Bassa/Jos North Federal Constituency, spoke during an interview on Channels Television. He said that people in the affected communities know the paths used by the attackers and can help security forces if they are involved properly.
“The security people know where the attacks are coming from. The local people can point out the routes the attackers use,” he explained. “I don’t believe for a second that the security operatives don’t know where these people are. If they talk to the locals, they will get all the information they need.”
He also said the violence seems like a planned effort to take over land and has forced many communities to leave their homes. Asama called on the federal government to take quick action to stop the ongoing violence in Plateau and other troubled parts of the country.
