2027 presidency: Atiku never keeps to his words – Wike hints on supporting Tinubu

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has criticized former PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for not keeping his promises. Speaking during a media chat in Abuja on Friday, Wike said he made the right choice by supporting President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

Wike stated that the PDP is not prepared for future elections and continues to struggle with internal power fights. He said these issues are damaging the party and won’t help it move forward.

Wike explained that in 2023, the ruling APC was weak because of the poor performance of the Buhari administration. Despite that, he still chose to support Tinubu because he believed Atiku was not a reliable option.

Wike shared a past incident from 2019 when Atiku, Bukola Saraki, and Uche Secondus promised him he could nominate the Attorney General and Minister of Petroleum if they won. But after the election loss, the man he was supposed to nominate wasn’t even involved in forming the legal team. This, he said, showed that Atiku does not keep his word.

Wike emphasized that he never trusted Atiku to be honest and was confident that backing Tinubu was the right decision. When asked about 2027, Wike hinted that supporting Tinubu again is possible, saying he won’t back someone who doesn’t keep promises.
