Hundreds of Boko Haram suspects arrested in Lagos — CJTF

The Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in Lagos has detained hundreds of individuals suspected of being members of Boko Haram. This announcement was made by Mr. Kumar Sanda, the CJTF Commander in Lagos, during an award ceremony held on Wednesday, April 16.

Proactive Measures Against Infiltration

Mr. Sanda emphasized the CJTF’s dedication to preventing Boko Haram insurgents and bandits, who are fleeing from Northern Nigeria, from entering Lagos. He revealed that arrests are frequently made in locations like trailer parks, quarries, and markets, where newcomers from the North often congregate.

Thousands of Arrests Conducted

According to the CJTF Commander, the number of apprehended suspects is staggering. “If I were to disclose the exact number of Boko Haram members arrested in Lagos, it might be hard for people to believe,” he said. “But we’ve arrested thousands.”

Vigilance in Monitoring Entry Points

The CJTF monitors key areas such as trailer parks and quarries and keeps a close eye on truck pushers, aware of the routes often used to enter Lagos. Mr. Sanda urged residents to remain alert, stating, “Not all individuals from the North are bad, but not all are good. We are working tirelessly to keep Lagos safe.”

Collaboration with Lagos State Government

Mr. Sanda assured the public that Boko Haram has no operational base in Lagos. He highlighted the collaboration between the CJTF and the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, ensuring that residents can sleep peacefully.

Concerns Over Infiltration by Non-Nigerians

The CJTF Commander pointed out that many insurgents are non-Nigerians who enter the country illegally and pose as locals. He explained that individuals from Borno State, where Boko Haram originated, are under close observation. He added that the CJTF has systems to track truck routes, allowing them to monitor new arrivals.
