Peter Obi, the former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has asked President Bola Tinubu to stop his trip in France and come back to Nigeria. Obi said the country is facing serious security problems, and Tinubu needs to be present to handle the situation.
In a post on social media platform X, Obi said that more than 150 people have been killed in Nigeria since Tinubu left for France two weeks ago. He pointed out that attacks in Plateau and Borno States have led to many deaths. He also mentioned that there have been pipeline explosions in the Niger Delta and an increase in insurgent activities in Borno State.
According to Obi, the South East is also seeing more killings and kidnappings. He said it is wrong for the president to be away while so many problems are happening in the country.
He criticized the president for holding a retreat in France while Nigeria is in crisis, saying a president’s top job is to protect lives and property. Obi added that leadership means taking action, not staying away during hard times.
He ended by urging President Tinubu to return home quickly and take charge, saying that Nigerians deserve a government that works for them. He said, “A new Nigeria is possible.”
