US rapper Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, has been found guilty of murder for the second time. A jury decided that he shot and killed a man named Mark Anthony Saldivar in San Antonio, Texas, in 2017.
Tay-K could now face life in prison, but he may still get the chance for parole. This is not his first murder case—he is already serving a 55-year sentence for a different fatal shooting.
Prosecutors said Tay-K tried to rob Saldivar and ended up shooting him. But Tay-K’s lawyers said the investigation was poorly done. They believe the case relied too much on witness statements from people who were in the car during the shooting.
One of his lawyers, John Hunter, told the jury, “Tay-K is not guilty of murder or manslaughter. The police didn’t do a proper investigation.”
The jury did not find Tay-K guilty of capital murder, which would have meant life in prison without parole. Now, the court will look at more information to decide what his final punishment will be.
