Popular Nigerian singer Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has shared a fun story about his early music career. In a recent interview with Power 105.1 FM in the U.S., Davido said his hit song “Dami Duro” was once used as the ringtone of Nigeria’s former president, Goodluck Jonathan.
“Dami Duro” was released in 2012 and helped Davido become famous. He said that before the song became a hit, his father, Deji Adeleke, did not support his music career. In fact, his dad even used the police and army to stop his shows and arrest event organizers.
But everything changed after “Dami Duro” became popular. Davido said someone told him the song was the president’s ringtone. After that, many people began telling his father to allow him to do music. That moment helped change his father’s mind.
Davido added that he agreed to return to school, and over time, he and his father became close. Now, they have a great relationship. His dad attends his shows and supports his business fully.
