Daniel Bwala, who advises President Tinubu on policy communication, has warned the APC about Senator Ali Ndume. He believes that Ndume is no longer truly loyal to the party. Bwala said on Channels Television that, “Ndume’s spirit and soul are with the opposition coalition. Only his body is still in APC.”
He compared Ndume’s actions to those of Nasir El-Rufai, who openly left the APC. According to Bwala, El-Rufai deserves more respect for being honest, instead of staying in the party and secretly working against it.
This comment comes at a time when the APC is facing internal issues, while the opposition is becoming stronger. On April 11, Ndume openly criticised President Tinubu for suggesting emergency rule in Rivers State. Instead, he advised the president to focus on fixing Nigeria’s security and economy.
Ndume also made waves by saying that Tinubu should be worried if former President Buhari does not support him. This came after Buhari recently met with opposition leaders like Atiku Abubakar and others in Kaduna, which many see as a sign of a new political alliance.
This opposition coalition, officially formed on March 20, 2025, includes Atiku, Peter Obi, and El-Rufai. Their goal is to remove APC from power in the 2027 elections. They blame Tinubu’s government for rising inflation and the growing cost of living.
The alliance gains strength from the 2023 elections, where Atiku and Obi got over 12 million votes together—more than 4 million votes higher than what Tinubu received, according to INEC.
Meanwhile, both the PDP and Labour Party are struggling with court cases and leadership issues. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) is becoming a popular option. El-Rufai and some of his allies have already joined the SDP. Atiku and Obi are said to be considering it, but haven’t confirmed yet.
The political scene in Nigeria is clearly shifting, with many watching closely as the 2027 elections approach.
