BREAKING: Alleged assassination plot: Akpabio petitions IGP, demands Natasha’s prosecution

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has reported Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun. He wants her to be investigated and punished for accusing him of planning to kill her.

In a petition dated April 3, Akpabio said Natasha’s claim is a serious lie that puts his life in danger and could cause public unrest. The petition was also sent to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi.

Natasha made the accusation during a public speech in Kogi State on April 1. She said Akpabio told former Governor Yahaya Bello to assassinate her and make it look like the people of Kogi did it.

Akpabio strongly denied the allegation, calling it false, dangerous, and politically motivated. He believes it was meant to ruin his name and cause political trouble. He also said Natasha had no proof and that her words could mislead the public.

He asked the police to quickly look into the matter and prosecute her for criminal defamation, false accusations, incitement, and any actions that could disturb public peace.

Akpabio also pointed out that the allegation had been shared widely on TV, radio, newspapers, and social media. Because of this, he believes it’s very important for law enforcement to act fast.

He ended the petition by saying that public officials should be held responsible for their words, especially when they could harm peace and democracy.

This is not the first time the two senators have clashed. Earlier, Natasha accused Akpabio of sexual harassment. That issue led to her suspension from the Senate for misconduct.
