The recent wave of killings in Plateau State has shocked many, and Governor Caleb Mutfwang has labeled the violence as genocidal and sponsored by terrorist groups.
In a statement on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Governor Mutfwang expressed his deep concern, revealing that over 50 people have been killed in recent weeks. Thousands have also been displaced from their homes. The attacks primarily targeted several communities in the Bokkos Local Government Area, leaving destruction in their wake.
Governor Mutfwang believes these attacks are not random but orchestrated by well-organized terrorist groups, aimed at wiping out entire communities. He stated that the violence is more than just a struggle over limited resources, such as land, and is a deliberate campaign of terror.
“This is genocide, sponsored by terrorists. The question we need to answer is: who are the sponsors of this terrorism?” said Mutfwang. He urged the security agencies to work together to identify the masterminds behind these attacks, as he believes they are not the work of ordinary criminals.
The Governor emphasized that the ongoing violence in Plateau is part of a disturbing pattern of attacks in the region. He remains hopeful that the security forces will unite and uncover the intelligence needed to end this crisis.
