Champions League: He caused Real Madrid problems – Rooney singles out one Arsenal player

Wayne Rooney has given special praise to Myles Lewis-Skelly after Arsenal’s 3-0 victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League on Tuesday. The young midfielder played a key role in Arsenal’s dominant performance in the quarter-final first leg at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were helped by two free-kicks from Declan Rice and a goal from Mikel Merino, giving them a strong advantage ahead of the second leg in Madrid.

Rooney was impressed with Lewis-Skelly’s performance, noting that the young player showed no fear against the reigning Champions League holders. On Amazon Prime, Rooney said, “He played with no fear from the start.

He was causing Real Madrid problems and making a difference in midfield. For someone so young, it’s not easy to play at this level, but he did it with full confidence.”

He added, “It’s been a big season for him – debuting for England and then delivering a great performance against Real Madrid. He’s passed a big test.”

Arsenal will now look to complete the job in the second leg next Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
