It was a theft against Anambra people – Valentine Ozigbo speaks after losing APC primaries

Valentine Ozigbo has spoken out for the first time since losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Anambra State. He lost to Nicholas Ukachukwu, who won with 1,455 votes. Ozigbo only got 67 votes, while Edozie Madu and Johnbosco Onunkwo received 8 and 26 votes respectively.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ozigbo described the entire primary election as a “charade.” He claimed that the process was full of irregularities and was meant to favor a pre-selected winner.

According to him, non-party members were included as delegates, real APC members were blocked from voting, and the vote counting was not transparent. He said he has already submitted a petition to the APC Appeals Committee to challenge the results.

“This is not just about me,” Ozigbo said. “It’s about protecting democracy and standing for what is right.”

He made it clear that he is not in politics just to get power or recognition. His mission, he said, is to serve the people of Anambra with honesty and good leadership. He promised not to leave the APC or run for another office. Instead, he will continue to fight for justice within the party.

He compared the struggle to other great fights for freedom in history and said the current situation is a sign that the system is afraid of change. “Anambra must change for good,” he said, “and it will.”

Ozigbo ended his message by calling on his supporters to stay strong and hopeful. He also urged the APC to correct the injustice and choose a candidate that truly represents the will of the people.

“We will not back down,” he said. “The future belongs to those who fight for it.”
