Champions League: Ancelotti picks new penalty taker for Real Madrid ahead Arsenal clash

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has chosen Kylian Mbappe as the team’s new penalty taker ahead of their big Champions League match against Arsenal.

This change comes after Vinicius Junior missed a penalty during a La Liga game against Valencia last weekend. His weak shot was easily saved by Valencia’s goalkeeper, Giorgi Mamardashvili. Although Vinicius later scored Real Madrid’s only goal in that match, the team still lost 2-1.

According to Spanish media outlet Marca, Ancelotti has now removed Vinicius from penalty duty. Mbappe will take over as the main penalty taker, starting with the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Tuesday.

So far this season, both Vinicius and Mbappe have missed two penalties each. If Mbappe also fails to score from the spot, Jude Bellingham will likely be the next in line. The English midfielder has also missed one penalty this season.

All eyes will be on how Real Madrid handles these key moments in their important game against Arsenal.
