Peter Obi not moving to SDP, still LP member – Tanko counters ex-presidential candidate

Yunusa Tanko, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, has said that Peter Obi is still a member of the Labour Party (LP). He made it clear that Obi has not joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP), despite recent rumors.

Tanko spoke during an interview on Channels TV’s Morning Brief. He shared that LP leaders will soon have a meeting to explain their next steps, especially after the Supreme Court removed Julius Abure as the party’s national chairman.

Tanko stated, “There will be a meeting this week where party leaders will make everything clear. This meeting will help settle all issues following the Supreme Court’s decision. As of now, Peter Obi is still a member of the Labour Party.”

He made this statement in response to comments made by SDP’s former presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo. Adebayo claimed that Peter Obi and former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, are in talks to join the SDP.

Tanko dismissed these claims and said no official move has been made by Obi to leave the Labour Party.
