Nigerian woman reacts after her wedding was called off on eve of ceremony

A Nigerian woman named Patience Addra has shared her feelings after her wedding was suddenly cancelled just one day before the big day. The wedding was supposed to take place on Saturday, April 5, in Anguldi, Zawan Jos. However, on Friday, everything changed.

Patience reacted to the situation on social media. She wrote, “Online family (in-laws), well done,” and added, “If you follow social media saga, you go kpai before your time,” which means that social media stress can be overwhelming.

Her post received many comments, with some people showing support and others giving advice. Many told her to stay off social media for a while.

Reports say Patience and her fiancé had been together for three years. At first, people thought Patience cancelled the wedding because of her fiancé’s church, the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN). But a writer from Jos, Paul Kums, shared more details from Patience’s side.

According to him, the issue started during their final church counseling session. When asked where they would attend church after marriage, Patience said she would stay with her Catholic church. But the groom said they must attend his church together. He also said that his mother insisted they attend his church, or the wedding would not happen.

This caused an argument. Patience replied, “If your mother is going to decide everything for you, then maybe we should call off the wedding.”

The groom told his mother what Patience said, and the mother became angry and called off the wedding.

As the wedding day got closer, Patience tried to make peace. She said she would attend his church and asked the groom to talk to his mother. She was worried about her own mother’s health and feared that the news would affect her badly. But the groom’s mother didn’t change her mind.

In the end, the wedding was cancelled, and Patience was left heartbroken.
