Nigerian gospel artists make YouTube’s most streamed Nigerian acts globally in first quarter of 2025

Nigerian gospel music is gaining more global attention as three gospel artists—Nathaniel Bassey, Mercy Chinwo, and Moses Bliss—have made it to YouTube’s list of the most-streamed Nigerian artists worldwide for the first quarter of 2025.

Data from Debut Hub shows that from January to March 2025, Nathaniel Bassey led among the gospel artists with 52.8 million streams. Mercy Chinwo followed closely with 46.4 million streams, while Moses Bliss gathered 41.5 million streams, placing all three among Nigeria’s top 20 most-streamed artists on YouTube Music.

Mercy Chinwo’s popular song “Excess Love” continues to be a fan favorite, with 133 million total plays. Nathaniel Bassey’s songs also did well—“Yahweh Sabaoth” got 25 million, “TOBECHUKWU” featuring Mercy Chinwo reached 39 million, and “Jesus Iye” climbed to 32 million streams.

Moses Bliss’s entry into the top 20 marks a huge moment for Nigerian gospel music as it continues to reach a wider global audience.

Meanwhile, Rema remained the top Nigerian artist with a massive 223 million streams in the same period. His global hit “Calm Down” featuring Selena Gomez has now hit 2.5 billion plays on YouTube Music.
