I was raped by my colleague – Radio host Lolo

Popular Nigerian radio host and actress Omotunde Adebowale-David, known as Lolo 1, has spoken about a very painful experience in her life. On a recent episode of her podcast Say My Piece, Lolo 1 revealed that she was raped by a male colleague in the broadcasting industry.

She said the event happened years ago but still affects her deeply. Lolo 1 shared that she finds it hard to talk about the full story because people might judge her for not speaking up earlier.

“I hardly talk about it,” she said on the podcast. “When I told my daughter, she held my hand and said, ‘Mummy, you’ve been through a lot.’ And it’s true. I’ve only been raped once, and it was by someone I worked with. I still see him around, and it brings me panic and fear.”

She explained that the man is well-known in the broadcasting world and is now getting more attention with a big TV role. She worries that if she names him, people will ask why she waited so long to speak out.

“When a woman is sexually assaulted, the first thing she feels is denial. Then she starts blaming herself,” she added.

Lolo’s story is a reminder of how hard it can be for survivors to speak up—and how important it is to listen and support them.
