Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has praised Kevin De Bruyne, calling him one of the best players in Premier League history.
Arteta, who worked with De Bruyne at Manchester City as an assistant coach, spoke highly of the midfielder’s skills. He said De Bruyne’s ability to play perfect passes while running at full speed makes him truly special.
Arteta said, “I’ve never seen a player who can do what he does. He can be sprinting and still pass the ball perfectly through defenders. That kind of quality is rare.”
He also praised De Bruyne’s mindset, saying that he always takes risks and tries to make things happen, even when things don’t go his way.
De Bruyne recently announced that he will leave Manchester City at the end of the season when his contract expires. He posted a heartfelt goodbye message on his social media pages.
During his time at City, De Bruyne won six Premier League titles and made 280 appearances, scoring 70 goals and providing 118 assists. He is currently second on the all-time Premier League assist list, just behind Ryan Giggs, who had 162.
Arteta left Manchester City in 2019 to become the head coach at Arsenal, but his respect for De Bruyne remains strong.
