Former Education Minister Oby Ezekwesili has accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of avoiding an investigation into sexual harassment allegations made by suspended Kogi Central Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Akpoti-Uduaghan claimed that Akpabio made unwanted advances towards her and later denied her certain privileges after she rejected him, even in front of her husband. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Ezekwesili said the Senate has refused to grant Akpoti-Uduaghan a fair hearing or an impartial investigation.
Ezekwesili expressed her concerns on social media, questioning why Akpabio and the Senate are blocking any efforts to investigate the matter. She insisted that justice must be served, emphasizing that societies that ignore injustice struggle with economic growth and fairness.
She further asked why Akpabio’s colleagues in the Senate are supporting him instead of ensuring transparency and accountability. According to her, the Senate cannot simply move on without properly addressing the issue.
Ezekwesili assured Akpoti-Uduaghan that she is not alone in this fight, stating that justice must prevail.
The controversy continues to raise questions about power abuse and fairness within Nigeria’s political system. Will the Senate take action, or will they continue to ignore the call for justice?
