Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, and Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, visited the Torankawa community in Kano to sympathize with families affected by a tragic attack in Uromi, Edo State. Sixteen people lost their lives in the brutal incident, and the governors assured the community that justice would be served.
During the visit, Governor Yusuf, through his spokesperson Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, expressed deep sorrow and called for quick action against those responsible. He assured the grieving families that the government would not rest until justice was delivered.
“This visit is not just to offer condolences but to show our commitment to justice. These families deserve action, not just words. The people behind this crime must be caught and punished,” Yusuf said. He also urged the Edo State Government to provide compensation to the victims’ families, as many of them lost their main providers.
Governor Okpebholo also spoke during the visit, assuring the community that security agencies were making progress in their investigations. He emphasized that Edo State values the safety of all its residents and would not allow such violence to continue.
“The case is being handled with urgency. We will ensure that justice is done,” Okpebholo stated.
Community leaders in Torankawa appreciated the visit, saying it gave them hope and showed that the government cared about their welfare. The Emir of Kano, His Highness Amb. Muhammad Isa Umar, praised the governors for acting quickly to address the issue.
The Kano State Government reaffirmed its commitment to following up on the case until justice is fully served.
