The White House has decided to move on from the controversy surrounding the leak of war plans on the Signal messaging app. On Monday, spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the “case has been closed.”
Leavitt stated that measures had been taken to prevent a similar incident in the future but did not provide specific details. This announcement suggests that National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who invited a journalist to the chat, and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, who shared the classified information, will not face any consequences.
Democratic lawmaker Madeleine Dean criticized Republicans for avoiding responsibility, calling it a sign of “weakness of thought.” She accused the Trump administration of failing to handle sensitive military plans properly.
Dean expressed frustration on social media, saying Republicans were using “what-about-ism” to shift blame instead of demanding accountability. She insisted that answers were needed regarding the security breach.
With the White House officially closing the case, the debate over ‘Signalgate’ may continue in political circles, but no further action is expected from the administration.
