Russia responds to Trump’s “angry” remarks about Putin

The Russian government has responded to former US President Donald Trump’s recent comments about being “very angry” and “pissed off” with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump made these remarks while discussing Putin’s idea of placing Ukraine under a temporary administration and removing Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky as part of a peace agreement.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov addressed these comments on Monday, stating that some of the wording had been paraphrased and were not direct quotes. He mentioned that several different statements were made on the topic.

Despite the remarks, Moscow is continuing its discussions with Washington. Peskov emphasized that Russia is working on improving relations with the US, which were significantly damaged in previous years.

He also confirmed that efforts toward a Ukraine peace deal are ongoing, though there are no specific details to share yet.

When asked if a call between Putin and Trump could happen this week, Peskov said it is not currently scheduled. However, he noted that such a call could be arranged quickly if needed.

As tensions remain high, both nations continue to navigate their diplomatic relationship and potential peace efforts for Ukraine.
