Activist Adetoun recently shared a video where she confronted a mother for allowing her 11-year-old daughter to help sweep an estate early in the morning. The mother was employed by the estate management to clean, and since it was a public holiday, she brought her daughter along to assist her.

Adetoun, who lives in the estate, saw them and was unhappy that the young girl was working so early. She accused the mother of engaging in child labour, which is not acceptable. She also warned that if the child was seen sweeping again, she might be taken away from her mother.

‘’You don’t bring an 11 year old girl as early as 4.30-5am for child labour. I am not going to listen to your predicament. Don’t ever bring this girl out.”

The video has received different reactions from Nigerians. Some people praised Adetoun for standing up for the child, while others felt she was too harsh and embarrassed the mother in front of her daughter.
