Activist Detoun has apologized to a woman she earlier criticized for bringing her 11-year-old daughter to work at 4:30 am in Ikoyi.
A few days ago, Detoun shared a video where she confronted the woman, a street sweeper, for allowing her young daughter to help her so early in the morning.
She argued that this was child labor and against the law. However, the video sparked mixed reactions, with many people criticizing Detoun for embarrassing the woman publicly.
Following the backlash, Detoun visited the woman to apologize. She admitted that she did not intend to humiliate her. The sweeper, who earns ₦19,500 monthly, explained that she leaves her home in Oworo to work in Ikoyi. She added that her husband is unemployed, and she must work hard to support her family.
This incident has sparked discussions about child labor, low wages, and economic struggles faced by many families.
