The recent killing of Northern travelers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, is heartbreaking. Such violent incidents are happening too often in our society, and they should have no place in a peaceful nation. Every Nigerian, no matter where they come from, has the right to travel safely across the country.

Reports suggest that these victims were accused of being kidnappers, leading to a mob attack that took their lives. While fighting crime is important, taking the law into our own hands only worsens violence and weakens justice. It is good to see the government condemn this act and start an investigation, but more must be done.

The authorities should also focus on the killings of Edo indigenes, ensuring that justice is served for everyone. This tragic event reminds us of the urgent need for better security and public awareness to prevent similar incidents in the future. Communities must work with law enforcement to ensure justice is done through legal means, not violence.
