Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first goal for Middlesbrough as they secured a 2-1 win against Oxford United at Riverside Stadium on Saturday.
Oxford United took the lead in the 38th minute through Michal Helik. However, Middlesbrough responded quickly after the break, with Iheanacho scoring the equalizer in the 48th minute. Samuel Iling-Junior set up the goal with a well-placed assist.
It was Iheanacho’s eighth league appearance for Michael Carrick’s side since joining the club.
Middlesbrough sealed the win in the 80th minute when Neto Borges found the net, again assisted by Iling-Junior.
With this victory, Middlesbrough moved up to seventh place in the Championship standings with 57 points from 39 games. Meanwhile, Oxford United remain in 19th place with 42 points from the same number of matches.
