‘Mind-blowing fraud’ – US govt charged $1 billion for $10,000 online survey – Elon Musk

Elon Musk, who leads the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has criticized the high level of waste and fraud in the US government.

In an interview with FOX News, he revealed a shocking example—an online survey that should have cost just $10,000 was billed to the government for nearly $1 billion.

Musk called the situation “mind-blowing” and said the government routinely wastes about $1 billion every month. He believes that at least 15% of government spending can be cut without affecting important services. DOGE’s goal is to reduce government spending from $7 trillion to $6 trillion in the coming weeks.

Recently, DOGE has been investigating how government agencies, including the Treasury, Education, Defense, and USAID, are spending taxpayer money. According to Musk, these efforts have already saved taxpayers $115 billion as of March 2025.

Musk and DOGE, with support from President Donald Trump, are determined to reduce unnecessary spending and improve efficiency in the government.
