Reps rescind decision on bill to strip VP, governors of immunity

The House of Representatives has changed its decision on the second reading of a bill that aimed to remove the legal immunity of the vice president, state governors, and their deputies.

The bill was introduced to help fight corruption, stop misuse of power, and improve accountability among public officials. However, lawmakers decided to withdraw the second reading, stating that some parts of the bill need more discussion.

Earlier, reports showed that the House had passed 42 constitutional amendment bills for a second reading on March 26, including this one on removing immunity. But now, lawmakers believe further debate is necessary before moving forward.

This decision means the discussion on whether top government officials should lose their immunity is still ongoing.
