Rivers United’s coach, Finidi George, has shared his thoughts on his team’s 1-0 loss to Bayelsa United in an NPFL match. The game took place on Wednesday at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa.
Bayelsa United scored the only goal in the first half, with Kehinde Malik finding the back of the net. Despite the defeat, Finidi praised his players for their efforts.
Speaking after the match, Finidi admitted that the team came with different expectations but struggled after conceding the early goal.
“We wanted a different result, but after conceding, the game became tough,” he said.
He added that Rivers United tried to equalize in the second half but credited Bayelsa United for their strong defense.
“It was all about a key moment in the game, and they took their chance. Still, I must praise my players for their performance despite the loss.”
Despite the setback, Rivers United remains in second place on the NPFL table. The team will look to bounce back in their upcoming matches.
