The Nigerian government has recruited highly skilled foreign military experts to train its soldiers in counterterrorism and hostage rescue. This was announced by the Minister of Defence, Badaru Abubakar, during the launch of a new training program in Kaduna State.
The minister explained that the government is not only focusing on training but also providing modern technology and weapons to help soldiers tackle security threats more effectively.
In the first phase of the program, 800 soldiers will be trained, followed by another 800. Eventually, a total of 2,400 troops will receive specialized training before the program moves to its next stage.
The decision to involve foreign experts comes as terrorist groups continue to change their tactics. To stay ahead, Nigeria is bringing in specialists from seven different countries. However, the minister did not disclose the specific nations providing these experts.
This training program is part of the government’s broader plan to strengthen national security and improve the military’s ability to combat threats across the country.
