Timi Dakolo hits back with “evidence” of Femi Lazarus charging for his school of ministry after the pastor called out gospel artists who charge money to perform in churches

Nigerian singer Timi Dakolo has criticized Pastor Femi Lazarus for having double standards when it comes to gospel artists charging for their performances.

The debate started when Pastor Lazarus shared screenshots of an invoice from a gospel singer, showing the artist’s financial demands before performing at a church. The pastor disapproved of gospel musicians expecting payment for their ministry.

In response, Timi Dakolo shared an email that appeared to be from the Femi Lazarus International School of Ministry. The email showed that a student was asked to pay $150 (about NGN181,200 at the time in 2024) to enroll in the ministry school.

Dakolo questioned why pastors charge fees for their services, such as ministry training, while criticizing gospel artists for doing the same with their talent.

The conversation has sparked discussions online, with people debating whether gospel musicians should be paid for their performances in churches.
