Babcock University has recognized Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his efforts in digital transformation and cyber security. He received the Leadership Award of Excellence during the 2025 Cyber Security Workshop held at the university in Ilishan-Remo.
Senator Shuaib Salisu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, accepted the award on behalf of Governor Abiodun. He praised the governor for promoting digital technology to boost development in Ogun State.
According to Senator Salisu, the governor understands the importance of the 4th Industrial Revolution in career growth. As a result, the state has introduced various tech programs, including free digital training at the Ogun Tech Hub to help youths, startups, and entrepreneurs gain digital skills.
Senator Salisu, who also received an award for his contributions to ICT policy and cyber security, encouraged young Nigerians to embrace digitalization for career success. He highlighted the Ogun State government’s commitment to supporting individuals and businesses in using technology for growth.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Dayo Abiodun, the Special Adviser on ICT to the governor, thanked Babcock University for the recognition. He said the award would further motivate Governor Abiodun to keep advocating for digital development.
Olatundun Adekunte, Director at the Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), outlined some of the state’s digital projects, such as:
- Education web portals for better learning access
- Land administration platforms for easier property management
- Business tax remittance portals to improve transparency
Prof. Oludele Awodele, Director of Academic Planning at Babcock University, praised Governor Abiodun for promoting digital adoption. He described the governor as a visionary leader who is driving technological advancements for Ogun State’s growth.
This award highlights Governor Abiodun’s continuous efforts in making Ogun State a leader in digital innovation and cyber security.
