2026 WCQ: How Zimbabwe can beat Super Eagles – Nees

Zimbabwe’s head coach, Michael Nees, has emphasized that his team must play at their highest level to secure a good result against Nigeria in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Warriors are yet to win a match in Group C after five games, making their upcoming clash against the Super Eagles a crucial one. A victory would help them get back on track in the competition.

Nees acknowledged that facing Nigeria will be a big challenge, but he remains confident that his players are ready.

“It will be an exciting match. We must give our best because Nigeria is a strong team that will fight hard. We also have to give everything we have,” Nees told reporters.

The match will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where a large crowd is expected to support the home team.

Despite the tough conditions, Nees encouraged his players to stay positive and enjoy the moment instead of feeling nervous.

“We have to embrace the challenge, whether it’s the weather, the speed of the game, or the atmosphere. We must not be afraid. Our team can play good football, and we will analyze both our performance and our opponents carefully. The players should stay calm and focused,” he added.

With a determined mindset and proper strategy, Zimbabwe will aim to pull off a strong performance against Nigeria in this crucial World Cup qualifying match.
